For cutting back

You don't want to quit. You want to cut back.

Most habit apps can only count up. Committo tracks limits too — set 'no more than twice a week' and see, honestly, the weeks you stayed under. No shame, no streak to break.

A limit, not a streak

Set your cap. Each week Committo shows whether you stayed under it — a calm, honest record of progress instead of an all-or-nothing streak waiting to snap.

The evidence behind this

We grade what we lean on, and we show the grade. A is settled science; B is real but modest or genuinely contested — we say so rather than quietly leaving it out.

The honest science on alcohol: heavy drinking clearly shortens lives — that part is settled. Whether any amount is safe is genuinely contested, and the famous "red wine is good for the heart" curve looks increasingly like a statistical artifact.

The caveat

Deliberately graded B in its strong form — the "no safe level" conclusion is debated, and the later GBD 2020 analysis revised minimum-risk levels upward for older adults. Voice rule: we say "less is better"; we never say "one beer harms you."
